Vote

Why

1A – State Budget Process

Yes

There is plenty not to like about this law. Hold your nose and vote for it. The governor and the legislature struggled mightily for many months to find agreements and fashion this legislation. Without it, the state can’t make payments.

1B – Education Funding

Yes

Pays some funds previously promised to schools and not paid.

1C – Lottery

No

Allows the state to spend future lottery revenues before those revenues occur. Changes the purpose of the lottery from providing funds for education.

1D – Children’s Services Funding

No

Centralizes financial control in state agencies for programs providing education, health and other vital services for children. Local control makes the administrator more readily accountable.

1E – Mental Health Services Funding

No

Diverts funds that enable mental health services to other purposes.

1F – Elected Officials Salaries

Yes

Denies salary increases to elected officials when the state is in deficit. This slaps the legislators’ wrists, but it’s a start in the right direction. I would prefer to see an automatic recall and special election to replace the elected officials.
